Drugs and Alcohol Action Team

Knowsley Drugs and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is the strategic partnership which co-ordinates, develops and delivers a range of services for young people and adults around drugs, alcohol and tobacco, governed by the Home Office strategy "Tackling Drugs to Build a Better Britain: 1998".

Knowsley DAAT co-ordinates strategies to combat drug and alcohol misuse in Knowsley. Its membership reflects key agencies operating in this field including Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Primary Care Trust, Merseyside Police and National probation Services (Merseyside).

The DAAT’s work covers four key themes:

To help people resist drug and alcohol misuse

To help the community resist drugs and alcohol and the related social issues

To enable people with drug and alcohol problems to overcome them and live healthy lives

To stifle the availability of illegal drugs on the streets

The Knowsley DAAT has received over £2.5 million to develop and deliver a wide range of services and education for the residents of Knowsley. Whilst Knowsley does not have a significant drugs or alcohol problem the money has been spent effectively in keeping local waiting times to services down and ensuring that the young people of Knowsley are receiving appropriate education and information.
