About the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership
The Crime and Disorder Act 1998

The Crime and Disorder Act of 1998 made the Police and Local Authority jointly responsible for the reduction of crime and disorder.
Guidance issued with the Act recommends that a Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership is set up in each local authority area. The Partnership must include representatives from a number of responsible authorities. Involvement of representatives of other organisations that share a commitment to reducing crime and disorder is recommended.
To date 376 Partnerships have been set up in England and Wales. In Knowsley, this Partnership is called the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership, previously known as the Community Safety Partnership and was established in 1998.
The current membership of the Knowsley Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership includes representatives from agencies in the public, private and voluntary sectors and the local community.
